Lupon is a 1st-class coastal municipality in Davao Oriental, Mindanao, Philippines. Established on August 8, 1948, it lies on the east coast facing the Philippine Sea and spans approximately 886 km², covering 21 barangays.
As of the 2020 census, Lupon has a population of about 66,979, with a density of roughly 76 people/km². The town’s name is derived from the Kalagan word naluponan, meaning “land formed at a river mouth”—a reference to its location by the mouth of the Sumlug River.
