Boston is a 3rd-class municipality in Davao Oriental, Philippines, and the northernmost (and least densely populated) town in the province. It covers about 357 km² across 8 barangays, and as per the 2020 census, is home to 14,618 people.
Named—quite unofficially—after a miscommunication where a cane was mistaken for the place name (“Bahstaan” → “Boston”), the municipality’s name also reflects historical ties to Boston, Massachusetts, through American missionaries.
In summary, Boston offers a serene blend of coastal charm and mountain landscapes, with a rich agricultural base and growing eco-tourism potential. It stands out as a remote, English-influenced community with a unique historical backstory and vibrant natural attractions.
